This traditional Indian dholki necklace features a strand of gold-plated silver beads strung on maroon cord, combining classic craftsmanship with a rich, ceremonial colour palette. The beads are typically made by shaping silver into smooth, barrel-like forms - either hand-finished or cast in small moulds - before being carefully polished to acieve their signature rounded silhouette. Each bead is then plated with three microns of 18-carat gold, giving a rich golden finish.
The 'dholki' name comes from the bead's resemblance to a small drum. Jewellery of this style has long been associated with festive and bridal wear, symbolising prosperity and joy.
